Without end or beginning I go on to appear in fields, ensnare enemies or in another guise carry in the air messages from tower to tower.

MODERN POP MUSIC. It contains nothing. It can bind people through nostalgia, or just flip the bird at someone. It’s all repetitive so beginnings and endings don’t have much meaning. You can play it in a field if you want, or annoy the crap out of your enemies with it. A nd it also gets broadcast from radio towers!

Not too far of a reach. Personally? I am constantly disappointed by rap music. I want much more than it delivers. Unimaginative, too often.

I know, right? I don’t hate the concept of rap, but the vast majority of rap songs nowadays are just horrible in every way.

I think the answer they’re looking for is “ring,” but I don’t see how a ring carries messages from tower to tower. A telephone ring does not in any way carry messages across the air; if anything it’s the other way around, messages in the air cause a telephone to ring.

And yes, if this was a class assignment, I would explain why the desired answer is wrong.

At this point, it jus t feels like the only purpose rap has is to try to convince people that you’re tough by being as offensive and horrible as possible to some sort of rhythm that’s often so repetitive it barely qualifies as music. Either that, or they jus t brag about how much money they have. And on top of all that, if they’re not rapping out of sync with the beat, they’re mumbling the whole thing! Rap used to be fun, creative, and impressive. It was poetry. Now it’s been reduced to “Twunny dousand dollas on da dable dop, wambo doe s wid a wool up dop”. It makes me sad.

My pedantry resulted in straight As throughout my history and science classes, and even got a few wrongly- wrong answers changed back to correct in my English classes during high school. Thankfully most of my teachers were not self-righteous enough to mark me down in spite.

A ring can be produced by things other than phones. Bells produce a ring, and have been used for long distance communication for a quite a while. They’re also  frequently housed in towers...

Pretty much everyone npr invites to the tiny desk concerts is very talented. There’s a lot of good r&b/pop like blood orange, fka twigs, Toro y moi. Navvi is an interesting band. Tennis and porches are both really synth poppy but good if you like that. For rap/hip hop Kendrick Lamar, Isaiah Rashad, Freddie Gibs and Madlib, young thug is not for everyone but he's been hugely influential in hip hop over the past few years.
